Welcome to SwiftCurrent Connect! We’re thrilled to have you as a new customer. When you receive your first bill, you might notice that the total doesn’t match your regular monthly rate. Don’t worry — this is completely normal! It’s due to something called proration.
What Does “Prorated” Mean?
SwiftCurrent Connect bills one month in advance, meaning each bill covers the upcoming month of service. When you first get connected, your initial bill includes two parts:
A partial month (your prorated amount) — covering the days from your installation date to the start of your next billing cycle.
Your first full month of service in advance.
This ensures your account is aligned with our billing schedule moving forward.
Example of a Prorated First Bill
Let’s say your internet service starts on October 10, and our billing cycle begins on the 1st of each month:
October 10–31 → You’ll pay for these 21 days as a prorated charge.
November 1–30 → You’ll also pay for November in advance.
Your first bill will therefore include both the prorated portion for October and the full amount for November. Going forward, each bill will simply cover one month of service in advance.
Why We Bill in Advance
Billing in advance helps us ensure uninterrupted service and makes it easier for you to plan your monthly expenses — no surprises or gaps. It also ensures that when your next bill arrives, it’s always for the upcoming month.
Reading Your Bill
Your first statement will clearly list:
The service start date
The prorated amount for your partial first month
The regular monthly charge for the next month
Any applicable taxes or fees
If you have automatic payments set up, the total due will reflect both portions. For paper or e-billing customers, you’ll see itemized details so you can review exactly how your first bill was calculated.
